Petra, Jordan in 2004
Dear "Friends",
Member of Servas ( http://www.servas.org/turkey )
Ismail, his wife Ayfer and his daughter Damla
spent 5 nights (4 days) in Jordan between
January 25, 2004 and January 30, 2004.
They hired a taxi on first day and visited
Jerash (Roman provincial city), Dead Sea
(1306 feet below sea level, the lowest point
on earth), Mt.Nebo (a site sacred to Islam,
Christianity and Judaism), Madaba (has some
of the finest Byzantine mosaics in the region).
On second, third and fourth days, they hired an
official guide and his car. On the second day,
they visited Petra all day and drove down to
Aqaba to spend the night there. On the third
day, they visited Aqaba city by the Red Sea
(Jordan's winter resort and water sports capital),
Aqaba Aquarium and Wadi Rum (a spectacular desert
valley between massive sandstone-topped cliffs
rising up to 500 meters) and drove back to Amman.
On the fourth day, they visited the Qasq al-Harrana,
Qusair Amra, Al-Azraq Castle, Qasr al-Hallabat,
Roman Theater in Amman and some neighborhoods in
Amman City.
They highly recommend every "Traveller" to see
PETRA, Wadi Rum, Dead Sea in Jordan. They do not
recommend any "Traveller" to rent a car in Jordan,
because drivers (specially truck drivers) drive
crazily on highways or anyways and non-readers of
arabic may easily get lost.
Greetings to all "Travellers".
